NHL Network today announced that Stanley Cup champion Alex Tanguay has joined as an on-air analyst. Tanguay, who served as a guest analyst on NHL Network in December 2016, will appear across its studio programming and make his debut on NHL Tonight with Mike Rupp and Scott Braun this Thursday, February 16th live at 6:00 p.m. ET.
"I've been lucky enough to realize a childhood dream to play in the NHL for 16 years and, in looking to stay involved in hockey, I thought there was no better way than to be part of the expert panel at NHL Network," said Tanguay. "I'm looking forward to sharing my passion for the game with the fans."
Tanguay collected 283 goals, 580 assists and 863 points in 1088 games played across his 16-year NHL career. The 2001 Stanley Cup winner appeared in five consecutive Stanley Cup Playoffs with the Colorado Avalanche (1999-2000 to 2003-2004). While with the Avalanche, Tanguay was named an All-Star in 2004 and led the league in shooting percentage in 2005-2006 with 23.2 percent and 2014-2015 with 21.2 percent. Drafted 12th overall in 1998, the Quebec native spent six seasons with the Avalanche (1999-2006) before joining the Flames (2006-2008), Canadiens (2008-2009) and Lightning (2009-2010), later returning to the Flames (2010-2013) and Avalanche (2013-2015), before finishing his career with the Coyotes (2015-2016).
