The 33-year-old goalie was 20-11-4 with a 2.67 goals-against average and .910 save percentage in 38 games (36 starts) and set NHL career highs in starts, wins and shutouts (four). He started all four games in the Stanley Cup Qualifiers, going 1-3 with a 3.04 GAA and .897 save percentage when Minnesota lost the best-of-5 series to the Vancouver Canucks.
The season is scheduled to begin Jan. 13, 2021.
Goalie Andrew Hammond signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Wild on Wednesday, worth $700,000 at the NHL level. The 32-year-old has not played in the NHL since the 2017-18 season. He's 27-15-6 with a 2.31 GAA, .923 save percentage and four shutouts in 56 games (49 starts) for the Ottawa Senators and Colorado Avalanche.
The Wild have two other goalies on their roster. Cam Talbot signed a three-year, $11 million contract (average annual value $3.67 million) on Oct. 9 after the 33-year-old played one season for the Calgary Flames. Kaapo Kahkonen made his NHL debut with 32 saves in a 3-2 win at the New Jersey Devils on Nov. 26, 2019. The 24-year-old went 3-1-1 with a 2.96 GAA and .913 save percentage in five games.
Devan Dubnyk and a seventh-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft were traded to the San Jose Sharks by the Wild on Oct. 5 for a fifth-round pick in 2022.
