Alex Pietrangelo will have a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Thursday.

The Vegas Golden Knights defenseman is facing discipline for slashing against Edmonton Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl on Wednesday.

The incident occurred in the right face-off circle in the Golden Knights zone at 18:33 of the third period of the Oilers' 4-1 win at Rogers Place in Edmonton. Draisaitl, who leads the Stanley Cup Playoffs with 18 points (13 goals, five assists) in 10 games, had sent the puck around the net and was following the play when he was slashed by Pietrangelo.

Pietrangelo was assessed a major penalty and a game misconduct. Draisaitl got up under his own power but did not take another shift.

The following grounds are being considered for supplemental discipline: slashing. However, the Department of Player Safety retains the right to make adjustments to the infraction upon review.
