Ovechkin, wife sit courtside for LeBron, Lakers game in Washington
Capitals captain saw NBA icon up close and personal Sunday

Alex Ovechkin wasn't going to miss the chance to see a fellow GOAT from up close.
The Washington Capitals captain used his night off to sit courtside watching LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers take on the hometown Washington Wizards on Sunday.
"It was pretty cool," Ovechkin told NHL.com about seeing James from that close. "He's one of the best players in the world, and to watch him over there was pretty cool." Ovechkin met James and gifted him his own Capitals jersey when the he and the Cleveland Cavaliers came to Washington in 2009. That night he was with Nicklas Backstrom, but on Sunday his wife Nastya joined Alex. Each recorded Instagram stories of James on their accounts . Watching James was Ovechkin's latest chance in a recent run of hobknobbing among fellow world-class athletes in Washington. He greeted soccer star Neymar in August, served as an honorary captain at a Washington Redskins game in September, then met with international soccer icon Wayne Rooney after he attended a Capitals game earlier this month.
