Galchenyuk has contract terminated by Coyotes

Alex Galchenyuk had his contract terminated by the Arizona Coyotes on Friday.

According to multiple reports, the Scottsdale Police Department confirmed Galchenyuk is facing charges from a July 9 arrest that include private property hit and run, disorderly conduct, failure to obey, resisting arrest and threatening or intimidating.

The 29-year-old forward, who was placed on waivers Thursday signed a one-year contract on July 1.

"We are aware of the incident involving Alex Galchenyuk and strongly condemn this type of behavior," Coyotes general manager Bill Armstrong said Friday. "Once the club was made aware of the allegations, we immediately began the process of terminating his standard player's contract through the proper channels in conjunction with the National Hockey League. As a result, the Arizona Coyotes today have exercised the team's right to terminate the contract of Alex Galchenyuk due to a material breach of the terms of his standard player's contract. The club will have no further comment at this time."

Galchenyuk did not have a point in 11 games with the Colorado Avalanche last season and had 42 points (16 goals, 26 assists) in 42 games with the Colorado Eagles of the American Hockey League.

Selected by the Montreal Canadiens with the No. 3 pick in the 2012 NHL Draft, Galchenyuk has 354 points (146 goals, 208 assists) in 654 regular-season games for the Canadiens, Coyotes, Pittsburgh Penguins, Minnesota Wild, Ottawa Senators, Toronto Maple Leafs and Avalanche, and 17 points (five goals, 12 assists) in 38 Stanley Cup Playoff games.

Galchenyuk, who previously played for the Coyotes in 2018-19 and 2021-22, has played for seven NHL teams over the past six seasons.
