Alex Aleardi scores in shootout as Plymouth Whalers beat Brampton Battalion 3-2 @NHLdotcom

PLYMOUTH, Mich. - Alex Aleardi scored the deciding goal in the shootout to lead the Plymouth Whalers over the Brampton Battalion 3-2 Friday night in Ontario Hockey League action.

Andy Bathgate and Plymouth captain Beau Schmitz each had a goal and an assist for the West Division-leading Whalers (40-17-3) to back Scott Wedgewood's 37-save performance.

Ian Watters and Matt MacLeod scored for Brampton (32-20-9), with Watters' goal late in the second period tying the game at two.

Keegan Wilson made 36 saves for the Battalion.

Wedgewood stopped Mitchell Porowski and Patrik Machac in the shootout before Aleardi and Bathgate beat Wilson.
