GUELPH, Ont. - Alex Aleardi had back-to-back goals as the Plymouth Whalers downed the Guelph Storm 5-2 in a physical Ontario Hockey League playoff game on Thursday.
The series is now tied 2-2 with Game 5 in Plymouth on Saturday night.
Aleardi scored 13:55 into the third and then struck again just over three minutes later for Plymouth. J.T. Miller's power-play goal to start the third stood as the winner, while Dario Trutmann and Tom Wilson also scored. Goaltender Scott Wedgewood made 31 saves for the win.
Cody McNaughton and Zack Mitchell both scored for Guelph, while Garret Sparks stopped 29 shots in the Storm's net.
Things got rough late in the third period.
With 1:53 to go, Aleardi was given an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. Whalers left-winger Jamie Devane earned penalties for cross-checking, checking from behind and a game misconduct at the same time.
Guelph's Matt Finn also received an unsportsmanlike penalty, while Cody McNaughton was called for roughing.
Plymouth finished the night 2-for-5 on the power play, while the Storm went 1-for-4 with the man advantage.
