After ending season with NHL's best record, Bruins prepare for first round against Red Wings @NHL

BOSTON - The Boston Bruins had the NHL's best record, allowed the second fewest goals and scored the third most.

Now they have four days to prepare for the first round of the playoffs against a team that went 3-1 against them this season.

The best-of-seven series with the Detroit Red Wings starts Friday night in Boston. Game 2 will be there Sunday afternoon.

Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli says defenceman Dennis Seidenberg will not return for the playoffs. He underwent knee surgery and last played Dec. 27. Defenceman Adam McQuaid hasn't played since Jan. 19, and Chiarelli says the team is being cautious about his thigh injury.

Patrice Bergeron and Jarome Iginla led the Bruins with 30 goals each, and Chiarelli says Bergeron is playing the best he's ever seen him.
