OTTAWA - Adam Zamec scored the go-ahead goal on the power play early in the third period as the Ottawa 67's hung on to beat the Barrie Colts 2-1 in Ontario Hockey League action Friday night.

Zamec's goal, at 4:25 of the third, with Barrie's Tyson Aitcheson off for interference, stopped a five-game losing slide for the 67's (27-32-2-3).

Ottawa had managed just three goals over the past five games and had dropped eight of the past nine contests.

"We've been really clamped down defensively, which is nice to see, but on the other end of it, we haven't been scoring at all and we've been shut out.

"So coming out tonight with any kind of win, even though it was only two goals, makes the boys feel good and hopefully has some kind of snowball effect on it right now," Zamec said. "We've just got to build on it."

Brett Valliquette also scored for Ottawa and Adam Courchaine finished with

19 saves to earn the win in goal.

Aitcheson had Barrie's lone goal on the power play and netminder Peter Di Salvo stopped 26 shots.

The win also helped the 67's move within three points of the Colts, who began the night in fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings. Ottawa, which started out in eighth, also has a game in hand.
