Adam scores in OT to power the Screaming Eagles past Rimouski 5-4 @NHLdotcom

Luke Adam made the most of his Sunday afternoon power play time.

Adam scored twice on the power play, including the overtime winner, and added an assist as the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles edged the Rimouski Oceanic 5-4 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Cape Breton went 3-for-9 with the man advantage and Adam had a hand in all three goals. Before the game, the Screaming Eagles had the fifth-best power play in the league, with nine goals in 32 chances.

Adam assisted on Michael Stinziani's fifth goal of the season six minutes into the first period to put Cape Breton up 2-1. The Oceanic responded by scoring three of the next four goals to take a 4-3 lead before Adam scored his first of the game with just under six minutes remaining in the second.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL, it was: Gatineau 3, Drummondville 2; Rouyn-Noranda 4, Halifax 2; Lewiston 5, Quebec 2; Saint John 5, Victoriaville 3; and Montreal 3, Baie-Comeau 0.

At Sydney, N.S., Viktor Hertzberg and Stephen Horyl also scored for the Screaming Eagles (4-2-1-1). Francis Meilleur and Michael Ward assisted on both of Adam's power-play goals.

Patrice Cormier, Patrick Delisle-Houde, Alexandre Durette and Jakub Culek found the net for Rimouski (2-4-3-0).

Olivier Roy made 15 saves for Cape Breton, while Oceanic netminder Matthew Dopud stopped 38 shots.


Olympiques 3, Voltigeurs 2

At Gatineau, Que., Alexandre Quesnel and Tye McGinn each had a goal and an assist as the Olympiques handed Drummondville its first regulation loss of the season.

Denis Kindl also scored for Gatineau (7-2-0-0).

Gabriel Dumont had a goal and an assist and Philippe Lefebvre also scored for the Voltigeurs (7-1-0-1).


Huskies 4, Mooseheads 2

At Rouyn-Noranda, Que., Jeff Desjardins scored twice as the Huskies beat Halifax.

Jerome Raymond and Gabriel Levesque also scored for Rouyn-Noranda (6-3-1-0).

Charles Bety and Gerrad Grant replied for the Mooseheads (1-8-0-0)


Maineiacs 5, Remparts 2

At Lewiston, Maine, Sebastien Trudeau scored a pair in the first period to help the Maineiacs down Quebec.

Alexis Piette had three assists for Lewiston (6-2-0-0), which also got goals from Michael Chaput, Alexander Beaton and Billy Lacasse.

Danick Paquette and Ryan Bourque found the net for the Remparts (6-2-1-1).


Sea Dogs 5, Tigres 3

At Victoriaville, Que., Steven Anthony and Nicholas Petersen each had a goal and two assists as Saint John tamed the Tigres.

Stephen MacAulay, Nathan Beaulieu and Nicholas Pard also scored for the Sea Dogs (6-3-1-0).

Andrej Nestrasil scored twice and added an assist and Travis McIsaac added a goal for Victoriaville (6-3-0-1), which saw its four-game winning streak come to an end.


Junior 3, Drakkar 0

At Montreal, Jake Allen made 22 saves for his first shutout of the season as the Junior blanked Baie-Comeau.

Guillaume Asselin scored twice and added an assist and Loic Poudrier opened the scoring for Montreal (6-3-0-0).

Simon Giroux stopped 28 shots for the Drakkar (2-6-1-0).
