Adam Henrique scores hat trick as Spitfires eliminate Whalers 4-2 @NHLdotcom

PLYMOUTH, Mich. - Adam Henrique scored a hat trick, including the game-winner early in the third period, as the Windsor Spitfires eliminated the Plymouth Whalers 4-2 in Ontario Hockey League playoff action Saturday evening.

Windsor, the OHL's top-ranked team, downed the fourth-seeded Whalers in the series 4-2 and will face the second-seeded London Knights in the Western Conference final beginning Wednesday in Windsor.

After Dale Mitchell staked the Spitfires to an early lead and Henrique made it 2-0 just 59 seconds later.

Ryan Hayes got Plymouth on the board midway through the second but Henrique restored Windsor's two-goal lead at 1:02 of the third.

Matt Caria's power-play marker at the 6:02 mark drew the Whalers within a goal.

Plymouth threatened late with goaltender Matt Hackett on the bench for an extra attacker but Henrique blocked a shot and slid it into the empty net to clinch the series.

Windsor got 32 saves from netminder Andrew Engelage, while Plymouth's Hackett stopped 40 shots.
