Acadie-Bathurst Titan of Quebec junior hockey league staying put @NHLdotcom

BATHURST, N.B. - The Acadie-Bathurst Titan are staying put.

The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League team held a news conference today to state it is staying in northern New Brunswick and not moving to St. John's, N.L., as was expected.

Titan owner Leo-Guy Morrissette said that he intends to retire and sell the team to his son and daughter.

The Titan, which has been in Bathurst since the 1998-99 season, had a tentative agreement with St. John's Sports and Entertainment to move the team to Newfoundland for next season.

St. John's Sports and Entertainment says it is disappointed with the decision.

St. John's city council held a special session to approve the tentative agreement on the belief that the team would be playing out of Mile One Stadium in the fall.
