Philadelphia clinches Eastern wild card, eliminates Boston

PHILADELPHIA -- Even at their lowest moments, the Philadelphia Flyers never felt their season was lost.

They capped a second-half turnaround with a 3-1 win against the Pittsburgh Penguins at Wells Fargo Center on Saturday that clinched a berth in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Penguins' Murray leaves game with injury

Goalie was hit in head by Flyers forward Brayden Schenn in first period

PHILADELPHIA -- Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Matt Murray left the game with 2:35 left in the first period against the Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Center on Saturday.

Flyers forward Brayden Schenn cut through the crease with the puck and took a shot that Murray stopped, but Schenn's leg collided with Murray's head, knocking off the rookie goalie's mask. Murray, who is 7-0-0 with a 2.10 goals-against average and .923 save percentage in his past seven games, was examined by the medical staff on the ice then escorted up the tunnel into the locker room.

Penguins' Crosby, Letang out against Flyers

Pittsburgh captain held out with 'bumps and bruises' for precautionary reasons

PHILADELPHIA -- Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby and defenseman Kris Letang will not play against the Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Center (3 p.m. ET; NBC, SN1) on Saturday.

"Sidney Crosby is dealing with some bumps and bruises so we're going to hold him out for precautionary reasons," Penguins coach Mike Sullivan said. 

Letang will be a healthy scratch.

WASHINGTON -- He has won seven straight starts, but rookie goaltender Matt Murray isn't letting the pressure get to him.

Entrusted with the Pittsburgh Penguins net while No. 1 goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury is sidelined with a concussion, and with one regular-season game remaining for the Penguins, the net could belong to Murray when the Stanley Cup Playoffs begin April 13.
