NEWARK, N.J. -- Coach Dan Bylsma believes his Buffalo Sabres have plenty to play for with a less than a week remaining in the regular season. 

Bylsma and Sabres general manager Tim Murray are no doubt watching closely the energy and enthusiasm exhibited by each player down the stretch despite the fact Buffalo will miss the Stanley Cup Playoffs for a fifth straight season.

Elias returns to Devils lineup against Sabres

NEWARK, N.J. -- Left wing Patrik Elias will be in the lineup for the first time in four months when the New Jersey Devils play against the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday at Prudential Center.

Elias, 39, had been out since Dec. 19 with a right knee injury. He is in the final season of a three-year contract he signed July 4, 2013 and can become an unrestricted free agent July 1. There's a chance he could be playing his final games with the Devils.

Devils' Elias could play against Sabres

NEWARK, N.J. -- New Jersey Devils left wing Patrik Elias could play against the Buffalo Sabres at Prudential Center on Tuesday (7 p.m. ET; MSG-B, MSG+, BELL TV, NHL.TV).

Elias, who has been out since Dec. 19 with a right knee injury, skated on a line with Jacob Josefson and Mike Sislo during practice Monday.
