New Jersey Devils goaltender Cory Schneider has a Grade 1 sprain of the medial collateral ligament in his right knee and will be re-evaluated in two weeks, coach John Hynes said after the Devils' 6-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins at Prudential Center on Sunday. 

Schneider sustained the injury during the third period of a 4-2 loss at the Dallas Stars on Friday while making a pad save against Stars forward Jason Spezza.

NEWARK, N.J. -- Evgeni Malkin continued his torrid scoring pace since returning from injury with two goals and rookie goaltender Matthew Murray made 17 saves to help the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 6-1 victory against the New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center on Sunday.

Matt Cullen, Nick Bonino, Bryan Rust and Scott Wilson scored for the Penguins, who won for the fourth time in the past six games.

Pittsburgh (34-23-8), which leads the Devils by seven points for the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Eastern Conference, play the second of a four-game road trip at the New York Islanders on Tuesday.

New Jersey Devils goalie Cory Schneider has a lower-body injury and will not play against the Pittsburgh Penguins at Prudential Center on Sunday (5 p.m. ET; TVA Sports, ROOT, MSG+, NHL.TV), the Devils announced.

Schneider will be evaluated Saturday in New Jersey and his status will be updated Sunday.
