RANGERS DEFEAT LEAGUE-LEADING CAPITALS
After seeing their 2-0 lead erased in the second period, Derek Stepan (1-1-2) scored the go-ahead goal just 17 seconds into the final stanza to lead the New York Rangers past the NHL-leading Washington Capitals for their fourth win in five games (4-1-0).

* At 38-21-6 (82 points), the Rangers increased their lead to five points over the idle New York Islanders (35-20-7, 77 points) for second place in the Metropolitan Division.

* Stepan scored his fifth game-winning goal of the season and had an assist for his seventh multiple-point game of the season.

Blue Jackets win by answering Oilers

Score within 45 seconds of three goals; McDavid has two points

COLUMBUS - Every time the Edmonton Oilers thought they had pulled back into the game after allowing two early goals, the Columbus Blue Jackets responded.

The result was a 6-3 victory for the Blue Jackets who scored within 43 seconds of each Oilers' goal.

Hit in leg by puck in third period of Oilers at Blue Jackets

Linesman Darren Gibbs left the game between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Edmonton Oilers in the third period on Friday after he was hit in the leg by a puck.

Gibbs was near the red line when he was hit by a clearing attempt by Oilers defenseman Mark Fayne from inside his blue line.

At 3:22 of the third period in the Oilers/Blue Jackets game, Columbus requested a Coach's Challenge to review whether an Edmonton player interfered with Columbus goaltender Joonas Korpisalo prior to Connor McDavid's goal.

After reviewing all available replays and consulting with NHL Hockey Operations staff, the Referee confirmed no goaltender interference infractions occurred before the puck crossed the goal line.
