Benn scores 40th, Stars defeat Coyotes

Niemi makes 31 saves, Dallas moves into first place in West

DALLAS -- Jamie Benn scored his 40th goal, and Antti Niemi made 31 saves to help the Dallas Stars to a 4-1 win against the Arizona Coyotes at American Airlines Center on Thursday.

"It means I've got good linemates and good teammates," Benn said. "They're setting me up 40 times, I guess."

Dallas Stars captain Jamie Benn scored in the second period against the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday to reach 40 goals for the first time in his NHL career.

Benn scored 10:43 into the period. He has four goals in his past three games.

DALLAS---With five games remaining in the regular season, Dallas Stars coach Lindy Ruff wants to see his team continue to focus on finishing the season as strong as possible, starting with a game against the Arizona Coyotes at American Airlines Center on Thursday.

"I think we've played well [over the past few weeks]," Ruff said. "We've found ways to win games. I like where our team is at. I think there's areas where we can continue to work on."
