Bennett, Monahan power Flames past Coyotes

Forwards combine for five points, help Calgary end three-game skid

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The Calgary Flames were missing leading scorer Johnny Gaudreau on Monday, but rookie Sam Bennett and Sean Monahan provided more than enough offense to overcome the loss.

Bennett scored two goals, Monahan had a goal and two assists, and Joni Ortio made 22 saves to help the Flames to a 5-2 win against the Arizona Coyotes at Gila River Arena.

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The Arizona Coyotes have lost defenseman Michael Stone for the rest of the season and will be without captain Shane Doan when they play against the Calgary Flames at Gila River Arena on Monday.

The Flames will be without leading scorer Johnny Gaudreau, who will sit out with an upper-body injury. Gaudreau leads Calgary with 28 goals and 73 points. Flames coach Bob Hartley said he hoped Gaudreau would be able to play Wednesday against the Anaheim Ducks.

Arizona captain day-to-day; defenseman out for season

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Arizona Coyotes defenseman Michael Stone will miss the remainder of the season, and captain Shane Doan is out against the Calgary Flames at Gila River Arena on Monday (10 p.m. ET; SNF, FS-A, NHL.TV).

Stone sustained a left knee injury in the third period of a 2-1 win against the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday when he got tangled with Flyers forward Michael Raffl with 8:37 remaining.
