Blackhawks defeat Canucks, clinch playoff berth

Ladd scores late to lift Chicago to victory; Darling makes 26 saves

by Kevin Woodley / NHL.com Correspondent

VANCOUVER -- Andrew Ladd and Jonathan Toews played parts of three seasons together leading up to the Chicago Blackhawks' Stanley Cup championship in 2010, so it shouldn't be surprising they've had chemistry since Chicago reacquired Ladd from the Winnipeg Jets last month.

Ladd scored the winning goal on a drop pass from Toews with 2:27 left in the third period, and Chicago clinched its eighth straight berth in the Stanley Cup Playoffs with a 3-2 victory against the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena on Sunday.

Earlier win streak, play of Kane and Co. give Chicago chance for consecutive titles

by Jon Lane @JonLaneNHL / NHL.com Staff Writer

A 12-game winning streak from Dec. 29 to Jan. 19 gave the Chicago Blackhawks the cushion they needed to weather their subsequent 12-12-3 record and an injury to goalie Corey Crawford to reach the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the eighth consecutive season.

Chicago, the defending Stanley Cup champion, clinched its playoff berth with a 3-2 win at the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday.
