SAN JOSE -- The San Jose Sharks had 37 shots and one goal through two periods of a tie game against the New York Rangers at SAP Center on Saturday.

San Jose kept applying pressure, and Joe Thornton, Joel Ward and Joe Pavelski scored in a span of 3:20 in the third period when the Sharks defeated the Rangers 4-1.

Defenseman out with lower-body injury; forward has hand injury

SAN JOSE -- The San Jose Sharks will be without top-pair defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic and third-line forward Matt Nieto when they face the New York Rangers at SAP Center on Saturday (4 p.m. ET; MSG+, CSN-CA, NHL.TV).

Vlasic (lower body) and Nieto (hand) were injured during the Sharks' 3-1 road loss to the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday.

Season series: New York Rangers defenseman Marc Staal had a goal and an assist, and goalie Antti Raanta made 22 saves in a 4-0 win against the San Jose Sharks on Oct. 19 at Madison Square Garden. Forwards Mats Zuccarello, Jesper Fast and Viktor Stalberg also scored for the Rangers.
