The 17-year-old center (5-foot-10, 174 pounds), No. 2 on NHL Central Scouting's midterm ranking of North American skaters, has scored 54 points (19 goals, 35 assists), five power-play goals and two shorthanded goals in 37 games. Cooley played one game with the United States at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship before the tournament was postponed on Dec. 29. He is committed to attend the University of Minnesota next season.

Hi hockey fans.
It was a strange weekend. On Saturday, we played the first two periods against Cedar Rapids and during the second intermission our coach came into the locker room and told us there was a bomb threat. So, everyone rushed out, and some players didn't even shower. It was scary. There were police all around the building but thank God nothing really happened.
We played the third period of that game the following day (Sunday) at 2 p.m. and then the next game at 4 p.m.; we won both against Cedar Rapids. It was so weird, though. I felt like I was back in AAA hockey again, playing back-to-back games in one day. We had a little lunch break that was probably 10 minutes, then did another little stretch and had to rush back on the ice for warmup. It was definitely a busy Sunday.
USA Hockey announced on Wednesday that the same coaching staff from the 2022 World Juniors that was postponed in December will remain intact for the tournament in August. We all know we didn't get to finish the World Juniors this year, so to have another familiar face (with coach Nate Leaman) and hopefully the same number of guys who were there is nice. I thought we had a really special group. A group that could go pretty far. Obviously, there's going to be some guys that I'm sure are going to sign with their NHL clubs, but I talked to Leaman] after the announcement ... it was just to touch base. I'm glad the coaching staff is staying the same.
