The order of selection in the first round of the 2020 NHL Draft has been set with the conclusion of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The draft will be held virtually, with the first round Oct. 6 (7 p.m. ET; NBCSN, SN, TVAS) and rounds 2-7 on Oct. 7 (11:30 a.m. ET; NHLN, SN1).
The New York Rangers won the No. 1 pick in the Second Phase of the NHL Draft Lottery on Aug. 10. The First Phase of the lottery, held June 26, included the seven teams that were not part of the NHL Return to Play Plan and eight placeholder teams.

One of the placeholder teams won the lottery, which necessitated the second phase, won by the Rangers. The additional seven teams, like the Rangers each eliminated from the Stanley Cup Qualifiers, were awarded picks 9-15 in inverse order of regular-season points percentage.
The Rangers finished 18th in the NHL standings this season. They are the first team to finish that high and have the No. 1 pick since the 1994 NHL Draft, when the Florida Panthers finished 16th. New York is the first team to participate in the postseason and have the No. 1 pick since the 1983 NHL Draft (Minnesota North Stars).
Teams eliminated in the first two rounds of the Stanley Cup Playoffs were awarded picks 16-27 in inverse order of regular-season points percentage.
The No. 28 pick belongs to the Ottawa Senators, who acquired it in a trade with the New York Islanders for forward Jean-Gabriel Pageau on Feb. 24.
Ottawa also has the No. 3 and No. 5 picks. The No. 3 selection was acquired from the San Jose Sharks in a trade for defenseman Erik Karlsson on Sept. 13, 2018.
It's the first time a team has had two top-five selections since the 2000 NHL Draft, when the New York Islanders selected goalie Rick DiPietro at No. 1 and forward Raffi Torres at No. 5.
The Vegas Golden Knights, who lost to the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference Final, have the No. 29 pick. They had a better points percentage (.606) than the Islanders (.588), who lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Eastern Conference Final.
The Lightning, who defeated the Dallas Stars in Game 6 of the Final on Monday to win the Stanley Cup, get the No. 31 pick. That pick will go to the Sharks, who acquired it when they traded forward Barclay Goodrow to the Lightning on Feb. 24.
The Stars, as the losing team in the Cup Final, will pick No. 30.
The New Jersey Devils also have three first-round selections. In addition to its pick at No. 7, New Jersey has the No. 18 and No. 20 selections. The No. 18 pick was acquired from the Arizona Coyotes in a trade for forward Taylor Hall on Dec. 16. The No. 20 pick was acquired from the Lightning in a trade for forward Blake Coleman on Feb. 16. The pick originally belonged to the Vancouver Canucks, who traded it to the Lightning for forward J.T. Miller on June 22, 2019.
It's the first time a team has had three picks in the top 20 since the Golden Knights in 2017 (Cody Glass, No. 6; Nick Suzuki, No. 13; Erik Brannstrom, No. 15).
The Anaheim Ducks also have multiple first-round selections. In addition to their pick at No. 6, the Ducks have the No. 27 pick, acquired from the Boston Bruins in a trade for forward Ondrej Kase on Feb. 21.
The draft had been scheduled for June 26-27 at Bell Centre in Montreal but was postponed March 25 due to concerns surrounding the coronavirus.
