Dylan Holloway knew the transition to the University of Wisconsin from the Alberta Junior Hockey League wouldn't come easy, but the fact he remained a projected first-round selection in the 2020 NHL Draft as the top NCAA Division I men's hockey player on the board speaks volumes.
"I think I improved so much in the defensive zone and in my decision-making with the puck as a freshman at Wisconsin," Holloway said. "Playing in the AJHL last season was a bit of a slower pace and you had more time to think. In the NCAA, the play is so much quicker that you got to know what play you are going to make before you have the puck ... that was a big thing."

The NHL draft will be held virtually Oct. 6-7. It was postponed from its initial date of June 26-27 due to concerns surrounding the coronavirus.
Holloway (6-foot, 203 pound), who is No. 12 in NHL Central Scouting's final ranking of North American skaters, scored 17 points (eight goals, nine assists) in 35 games for the Badgers before the NCAA playoffs were canceled because of coronavirus concerns.
In 2018-19, the center was named the Canadian Junior Hockey Player of the Year after finishing second in goals (40) and points (88) in the AJHL during his second season with Okotoks.
