Some key numbers on Edmonton Oilers-Winnipeg Jets outdoor game

WINNIPEG -- A look at the 2016 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic game between the Winnipeg Jets and Edmonton Oilers "By the Numbers."

1  First-ever NHL outdoor regular-season game played by the Winnipeg Jets. They become the 22nd NHL team to participate in such a game.

2  Second-ever NHL outdoor regular-season game played by the Edmonton Oilers, who hosted the first-ever such game, the 2003 NHL Heritage Classic, at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton.

2.5  Length, in kilometers, of hot dogs and smokies that will be consumed by fans at Investors Group Field during the 2016 NHL Heritage Classic Alumni Game and 2016 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic.

4  The 2016 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic will be the fourth game in the Heritage series, following the inaugural contest in 2003, 2011 (Montreal at Calgary) and 2014 (Ottawa at Vancouver).

6  The original Winnipeg Jets and Edmonton Oilers faced off in the Stanley Cup Playoffs six times between 1983 and 1990 with the Oilers winning each series.

7  Players on the Jets current roster who were on the team's roster in 2011-12, the franchise's first season in Winnipeg: Alexander Burmistrov, Dustin Byfuglien, Toby Enstrom, Bryan Little, Mark Scheifele, Chris Thorburn and Blake Wheeler.

The hockey-themed, family friendly official pre-game fan festival will be free to game-day ticket holders and feature hockey attractions, special appearances, live music, food and more.

Of this group, Oilers forward Benoit Pouliot has played in the most such games (3 GP), appearing for Montreal at the 2011 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic, and twice for the New York Rangers at the 2014 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series.

19  The 2016 Tim Hortons Heritage Classic will be the 19th regular-season NHL game played outdoors and the first of a slate of four outdoor games played during the 2016-17 NHL regular season (Jan. 1 - Detroit at Toront; Jan. 2 - Chicago at St. Louis; Feb. 25 - Philadelphia at Pittsburgh).
