Flyers defenseman set rookie record for position

NHL.com @NHL

Shayne Gostisbehere of the Philadelphia Flyers had his record point streak by an NHL rookie defenseman end at 15 games Tuesday in a 3-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes at PNC Arena.

"It was a special streak," Gostisbehere told the Flyers website. "I really can't thank my teammates and coaches [enough]. They helped me along the way, not letting me think about it too much, and the biggest thing, not getting a big head about it.

"It was a fun thing. I'm personally happy it's over and we don't have to talk about it anymore, but I just want to thank all my teammates for all the support."

2/23/16: Eric Staal knocks down the rebound just below the crossbar for his 10th goal of the season, giving the Hurricanes a 3-1 lead

  • 01:07 •

At 14:11 of the third period in the Philadephia Flyers/Carolina Hurricanes game, video review determined that Eric Staal's stick was below the height of his shoulders when he deflected the puck before again playing the puck, which then entered the Philadelphia net in a legal fashion. This is not a reviewable play and therefore the referee's call on the ice stands - good goal Carolina.
