The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that defenceman Travis Dermott will undergo shoulder surgery on Friday, May 10. He is expected to miss a minimum of six months.
Dermott, 22, skated in 64 games for the Maple Leafs during the 2018-19 season and established new career highs in goals (4), assists (13) and points (4-13-17). He recorded three points (1 goal, 2 assists) in seven games during Toronto's first round series against Boston. In 101 career NHL games, the Newmarket, Ont., native has registered 30 career points (5 goals, 25 assists) and has four points (2-2-4) in 14 career Stanley Cup playoff games.
Dermott was originally selected by the Maple Leafs in the second round (34th overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft.
