by Staff Writer MapleLeafs / MapleLeafs.com

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today the club's 30-man roster that will participate in the 2018 NHL Rookie Showdown at Place Bell in Laval, Quebec this September. The players will compete in two games against prospect teams from the Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators. The roster includes a total of 17 forwards, 11 defencemen and two goaltenders.

Attending this year's tournament will be seven draft picks from the 2018 NHL Draft (Rasmus Sandin, Sean Durzi, Semyon Der-Arguchintsev, Riley Stotts, Mac Hollowell, Filip Kral, Zachary Bouthillier), four draft picks from the 2017 NHL Draft (Timothy Liljegren, Ian Scott, Fedor Gordeev and Ryan McGregor), two draft picks from the 2016 NHL Draft (Carl Grundstrom and Adam Brooks), three draft picks from the 2015 NHL Draft (Jeremy Bracco, Andrew Nielsen and Jesper Lindgren) and one draft pick from the 2014 NHL Draft (J.J. Piccinich).

In addition to the Maple Leafs' draft picks, the roster will include Mason Marchment, who signed a two-year entry level contract with the Maple Leafs on March 17, 2018, eight players signed to AHL contracts (Matt Bradley, Hudson Elynuik, Giorgio Estephan, Brady Ferguson, Stefan LeBlanc, Ryan Moore, Derian Plouffe and Scott Pooley) and Kristians Rubins who signed with the Newfoundland Growlers (ECHL) on August 3, 2018. Additionally, the Maple Leafs have invited three free agents (Drew Hunter, Roman Pucek and Eli Zummack).

Toronto Marlies head coach Sheldon Keefe will oversee the team along with assistant coaches Rob Davison and A.J. MacLean, goaltending coach Jon Elkin and Newfoundland Growlers head coach Ryane Clowe.
