For a handful of Leafs prospects, this weekend represents the beginning of the beginning.

The Leafs ‘rookie camp opens Saturday in London as 28 prospects of various futures don blue and white, many for the first time.

The Leafs games will be shown LIVE at 7 p.m. on Rogers London and Rogers Toronto. The games will be shown on tape delay at 8 p.m. on mapleleafs.com. Leafs TV will air Game in an Hour on Leafs TV and Game in Six will be available on mapleleafs.com.

All eyes will be on centre Nazem Kadri, the seventh overall pick in 2009 as the Leafs play Chicago on Saturday, Pittsburgh Sunday and Ottawa Tuesday. All three games begin at 7:00 p.m.

Kadri, a London Knight who grew up in London promises to be the main attraction, but there are others. Scoring forward Jerry D’Amigo, who signed with the Leafs after just one year of NCAA play, will be on hand. Another intriguing prospect, German Marcel Mueller will hit the ice. General manager Brian Burke has identified Mueller as an eventual second-liner. Two recently signed goalies, Jussi Rynnas and Ben Scrivens will perform as well.

Jesse Blacker and Keith Aulie, two defencemen envisioned to make the big club will be anxious to make an impression on the Leafs’ brass. The team will be coached by Marlies’ coach Dallas Eakins.

All games are at the downtown John Labatt Centre.

The Leafs training camp begins Friday, September 17.
