Many of the Dads were in attendance at Friday’s practice watching their sons go through their paces by head coach Ron Wilson.
“The guys will want to play hard in front of their Dads I would think,” Wilson said.
The biggest news items from Wilson’s news conference after practice was that goaltender James Reimer
has been cleared to play and he will be the backup Saturday in Boston.
“You like the goalie to get in the game-day routine and backing up isn’t a bad idea,” Wilson said.
The Leafs' bench boss didn’t say if Reimer will start Monday in the Big Apple but it won’t be long before Leafs Nation sees Optimus Reim in a game.
“At some point we will see him,” Wilson said. The Leafs play three games in the next four days.Cody Franson
will also return to the lineup after sitting out Wednesday’s game against Boston.
Wilson also announced that forward Mike Brown
underwent surgery on a disc in his back.
had surgery yesterday (Thursday) so he will be out six weeks and that is what the issue was and we couldn’t say anything until we got the proper diagnosis,” Wilson added.
Two other injured players, Mike Komisarek
and Colby Armstrong
, took to the ice prior to practice as they make their way back. Armstrong (lower body) is about seven days away. Matthew Lombardi (upper body) is 10 days to two weeks from returning while Komisarek had a plate inserted in his broken arm making the time frame for a return about 4-6 weeks away.
