Here's a sampling of what the Maple Leafs and Islanders had to say following a 4-3 win for the Leafs in a shootout on Wednesday night.
I thought this was Nylander’s best game by a mile. Most competitive game. First time he skated since he’d been here and obviously he’s a huge talent. Hyman and Sosh (Soshnikov) are here to stay. They’re real players. They’re going to play. They’re just too good and too hard and too fast. Too much work ethic. So those guys will play and then Willy (Nylander) is obviously getting better.
We’re a group of guys that take a lot of pride in the way we play and how hard we play. We haven’t really been getting rewarded with wins for as hard as we’ve been playing. Anytime we can get a win we’re happy to take one.
I think the guys here, the vets here, have been helping us. Playing the way we’ve been playing, I think everybody (was) contributing to the win today … It’s been great. It’s nice that we were able to put the puck in the back of the net today.

I think we understand what we’ve got to do to get to the playoffs and try to keep climbing up the standings. These games are important. The points are huge and we have to seize every opportunity in every game. They’re a young team. They’re going to come play with enthusiasm. A lot of energy and the excitement about playing in the NHL. They’ve played hard. They’ve been in games lately and, just unfortunate.
