Here's a sampling of what the Leafs had to say following a 1-0 win in Detroit on Sunday night.
I thought we played well. I mean, obviously, we played well through two periods. I thought we got on our heels a bit in the third. I thought they pushed. Bernier was good. I thought we had a lot of good players tonight. Our big three on the back there with Marty (Marincin) and Ries (Rielly) and Gardiner I thought played outstanding, really gave us an opportunity. Solid effort by Corrado. It was a good win for us.
I thought from the get-go we dominated this game and we wanted it. I think that was the biggest difference from the night in Ottawa. Tonight we were ready right from the get-go.
It was just at the end of the penalty kill, I saw that P.A. (Parenteau) got the puck and I just tried to get behind the ‘D.’ He made a nice sauce-pass and I got it out of the air and just tried to get it to the net. I was shielding the puck from the D-man and it just trickled in last second. It’s a lucky bounce for me but obviously we’ll take it.
Zach Hyman on facing former teammate Dylan Larkin
He’s a good friend of mine but it was fun battling against him. When you’re on the ice you’re not really thinking about who’s your friend, you’re going out there and competing so that was good.
