Here's a sample of what the Leafs had to say following a 4-3 overtime win in Philadelphia.
I think we showed a lot of resiliency. In the first period I thought we had good jump, good legs, given the fact that we did play last night and traveled. Second period came around and I think Philadelphia really showed how much they want to be in the playoffs. This was a real do or die situation for them. They made a really good game out of it, but it was a great shot by Gards there at the end to win it.
We just tried to limit their time and space and obviously they have some great players over there who make a lot of plays. So you’ve got to take their time away and force them to make some turnovers. Bernie was really big for us on the penalty kill and all game. That always helps when your goaltender is the best penalty killer.
I thought we did a good job early. Obviously we got on our heels and they were coming at us. I thought in the second they got the three powerplays and they took it to us again. But we were able to obviously get some good goaltending and a timely goal at the end on the powerplay to win the game. So it’s good for the guys, they’ve done a lot of good things and have worked hard. We have a lot of kids in our lineup, but guys battled and found a way to get it done.
