Ponikarovsky Out With Shoulder Injury, Boyce Recalled

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Thursday that forward Alexei Ponikarovsky has been placed on injured reserve with a shoulder dislocation. He is expected to be out of the lineup approximately six weeks.
Ponikarovsky sustained the injury during the first period of the Maple Leafs' game versus Washington on January 23.

In 41 AHL games this season, the rookie has 24 points (eight goals, 16 assists), with 71 penalty minutes and leads the team in plus/minus (+18). The native of Summerside, PEI spent the last two seasons with the University of New Brunswick (UNB) of the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) where he collected 65 points (29 goals, 36 assists) in 53 games.
Now in their third season as the Maple Leafs' primary affiliate, the Marlies lead the North Division with a record of 28-9-0-4 and are one of 29 teams competing in the American Hockey League's 73rd season.
