Morning Skate Notes

by David Alter / Toronto Maple Leafs

No lineup changes are expected for the Maple Leafs tonight. Jonathan Bernier will make his seventh consecutive start between the pipes.

That means Leo Komarov will not play, despite taking part in today’s optional morning skate.

Speaking of optional skates, it looks like that will be the plan going forward. “They’ve asked for this so we’re giving it to them” said Leafs coach Randy Carlyle. “It’ll always be an optional unless we’ve played somewhere late the night before. They’ve asked for morning skates to optional so we’ll give them what they ask for:”

Carlyle adds that Brandon Kozun will play at least one more game with the Marlies before they reassess him and his status going forward. Kozun is with the Marlies on a conditioning stint after suiffering a high-ankle sprain on October 17th.

The Devils are fraught with injuries heading into tonight’s game.

Jaromir Jagr will not play. But that is because of a flu, and he doesn’t have a concussion after a hit by Pittsburgh’s Robert Bortuzzo. Adam Larsson is also out with the flu.

Patrick Elias will also not play, requiring the Devils to call someone up prior to tonight’s game.

Stephen Gionta tested his injured foot but left quickly, leaving his status in doubt.
