Mogilny Undergoes Successful Surgery

"(September 28, 2004) -- John Ferguson, general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Tuesday that forward Alexander Mogilny underwent successful arthroscopic left hip surgery yesterday.

The procedure was performed by Dr. Marc Philippon, MD at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center at St. Margaret Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Mogilny, 35, played 37 games for Toronto last season collecting 30 points (eight goals, 22 assists) with 12 penalty minutes. He also played all 13 playoff games for the Maple Leafs collecting six points (two goals, four assists) with eight penalty minutes. He became just the second Russian player to register 1000 career NHL points when he collected three assists March 15, 2004 at Buffalo. The native of Khabarovsk, Russia has played 956 career NHL games for Buffalo, Vancouver, New Jersey and Toronto collecting 1007 points (461 goals, 546 assists) with 426 penalty minutes. "
