Maple Leafs sign Travis Dermott

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Wednesday that the club has signed Travis Dermott to a three-year entry level contract.

Dermott, 18, was drafted by the Maple Leafs in the second round (34th overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft. The Newmarket, Ontario native collected 45 points (eight goals, 37 assists) in 61 regular season games with the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League last season. He also led all OHL defencemen in playoff points with 17 (five goals, 12 assists) in 20 games.

Dermott was one of 13 defencemen selected to participate in Canada’s National Junior Team Summer Development Camp which will be held in Calgary beginning July 29.
