The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that the hockey club has signed defenceman Mark Giordano to a two-year contract extension. The average annual value of the contract is $800,000.

Giordano, 38, recorded 35 points (8G, 27A) in 75 games during the 2021-22 season split between Toronto and the Seattle Kraken while adding two assists in seven Stanley Cup Playoff games with the Maple Leafs. The Toronto, ON native has registered 544 points (151G, 393A) through 1,024 career regular season NHL games with Toronto, Seattle and Calgary, while collecting nine points (1G, 8A) in 30 career Stanley Cup Playoff games.

During his 16-year NHL career, Giordano has appeared in three NHL All-Star games (2015, 2016, 2020) and was awarded the Norris Trophy as the NHL's top defenceman in 2018-19. Giordano has also been honoured with the NHL Foundation Player Award (2015-16) and the NHL's Mark Messier Leadership Award (2019-20).

Internationally, Giordano has represented Canada at the 2010 IIHF World Championship and the 2007 Spengler Cup.
