Maple Leafs Sign Kondratiev

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Monday that the team has signed defencemen Maxim Kondratiev to an entry level contract. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Kondratiev, 20, appeared in 47 games for Lada Togliatti of the Russian Hockey League and collected five points (two goals, three assists) with 56 penalty minutes. He also appeared in 10 Russian Hockey League playoff games and was held pointless with six minutes in penalties.

The native of Togliatti, Russia was a member of Russia's 2003 World Junior Gold medal winning team. He collected one assist with 14 penalty minutes in six tournament games.

Kondratiev was Toronto's seventh choice, 168th overall, in the 2001 Entry Draft.
