The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Monday that defenceman Jay Harrison has been signed to a multi-year entry level contract. In keeping with club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Harrison, 19, completed his fourth season with the Brampton Batallion of the Ontario Hockey League this year. He collected 43 points (12 goals, 31 assists) with 116 penalty minutes in 61 games played. He finished second among Battalion defencemen in points and set career-highs in goals, assists and points. The native of Oshawa, Ontario has competed in the last two World Junior Championships for Canada. He won a Silver medal in 2002 and a Bronze medal in 2001.
Harrison was selected by Toronto in the third round, 82nd overall in the 2001 Entry Draft.
