The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that the hockey club has signed defencemen Alex Biega and Carl Dahlström to one-year, two-way contracts. The contracts carry an NHL salary of $750,000.

Biega, 33, appeared in 13 regular season games with the Detroit Red Wings during the 2020-21 season, recording three assists. The Montreal, Quebec native has skated in 241 NHL regular season games between the Vancouver Canucks and Detroit Red Wings, registering four goals and 38 assists.
Biega was originally selected by Buffalo in the fifth round (147th overall) of the 2006 NHL Draft.
Dahlström, 26, spent the 2021 season with the Henderson Silver Knights, the AHL affiliate of the Vegas Golden Knights, recording 10 points (one goal, nine assists) in 17 games. The Stockholm, Sweden native played in 15 games with the Winnipeg Jets in 2019-20 after a five-year stint with the Chicago Blackhawks organization. Dahlström has collected 10 assists in 64 career NHL games while registering 58 points (11 goals, 47 assists) in 179 regular season AHL contests.
He was originally selected by Chicago in the second round (51st overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft.
