Maple Leafs Sign Brendan Bell

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Tuesday the signing of junior defenceman Brendan Bell of the Ottawa 67s to a multi-year contract. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Playing in his fourth season with Ottawa of the Ontario Hockey League in 2002- 2003, Bell recorded 14 goals, 39 assists and a +50 mark in 55 regular season games. In three playoff games this month, he currently has four goals and three assists.

Tonight, the 67s will play the IceDogs in Mississauga with Ottawa holding a 3-0 lead in games in the best of seven OHL Eastern Conference Quarter-Final. The captain of the 67s participated in the 2003 World Junior Tournament in Halifax, Nova Scotia and earned a goal and an assist as Canada captured the tournament's Silver Medal.
