The Maple Leafs announced today that the hockey club has recalled defenceman Travis Dermott and forward Frederik Gauthier from the Toronto Marlies (AHL).
Dermott, 21, was recalled for the first time in his career on January 5 and made his NHL debut on January 6 vs. Vancouver, recording an assist. He registered one assist in two games with the Maple Leafs prior to being loaned back to the Toronto Marlies on January 11. The Newmarket, Ontario native has 18 points (two goals, 16 assists) in 28 games with the Marlies this season and was named to the North Division roster for the 2018 AHL All-Star Classic on January 4. In 87 career AHL games, all with Toronto, he has registered seven goals and 35 assists for 42 points. Dermott was originally selected by the Maple Leafs in the second round (34th overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft.
Gauthier, 22, skated in five games with the Maple Leafs this season before being loaned to the Marlies on January 11. The Laval, Quebec native has appeared in 27 games with the Marlies in 2017-18, registering five goals and three assists. Over the course of his career, he has collected four points (two goals, two assists) in 33 NHL games while recording 39 points (15 goals, 24 assists) in 129 AHL games. Gauthier was selected by the Maple Leafs in the first round (21st overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft.
The Maple Leafs return to action on January 16 when they host the St. Louis Blues at Air Canada Centre.
