Maple Leafs recall Centomo from St. John's

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Wednesday that goaltender Sebastien Centomo has been recalled from the St. John's Maple Leafs of the American Hockey League.


Centomo, 20, has played in 15 games for St. John's this season and has a record of 8-4-2 with a 2.39 goals against average. He currently leads the AHL with a .932 save percentage and recorded his first AHL shutout January 27 at Lowell.

The native of Montreal, Quebec also spent time with Memphis of the Central Hockey League this year. He had a record of 16-1-0 with a 2.09 goals against average in 19 games played. At 6-foot-1, 193 pounds, Centomo, was originally signed as a free agent by Toronto September 10, 1999. He will wear sweater number 30.

Centomo will replace Curtis Joseph who is sidelined for six to eight weeks with a broken bone in his hand.
