Maple Leafs recall Bibeau

by Staff Writer / Toronto Maple Leafs

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Saturday that the club has recalled goaltender Antoine Bibeau from the Toronto Marlies (AHL) on an emergency basis. In addition, defenceman Dion Phaneuf was retroactively placed on injured reserve (January 21) in order to create a roster spot. Toronto’s active roster currently sits at 23 players (13 forwards, seven defencemen and three goaltenders).

Bibeau, 20, has appeared in 20 games with the Toronto Marlies this season, posting a record of 8-7-5 with a 2.58 goals against average and 0.917 save percentage. The Victoriaville, Quebec native has yet to make his NHL debut. Bibeau was drafted by the Maple Leafs in the sixth round (172nd overall) during the 2013 NHL Draft.

The Maple Leafs return to the ice tonight when they host the Edmonton Oilers at 7 p.m.
