Pat Quinn, general manager and head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Tuesday that the hockey club has obtained defenceman Phil Housley from the Chicago Blackhawks.

In exchange, the Blackhawks will receive future considerations from Toronto.
"When your name gets thrown around this time of year, you're a little disappointed," said Housley Tuesday. "But, when the deal goes down and I find out it's the Toronto Maple Leafs, I was pretty excited"
Housley, 39, has six goals and 23 assists for 29 points in 57 games with the Blackhawks this season. Playing in his 21st National Hockey League season, the native of St. Paul, Minnesota has recorded 338 goals and 894 assists for 1,232 points in 1494 career games. Housley has played in seven NHL All-Star Games in his career.
His best season came in 1992-93 when he recorded 97 points (18 g, 79 a) in 80 games. He is a seven-time 20-goal scorer and he reached the 30-goal plateau in 1983-84 with 31.
