The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that the club has loaned defenceman Rinat Valiev to the Toronto Marlies (AHL).
Valiev, 22, was recalled by the Maple Leafs on January 22. He has registered eight points (1 goal, 7 assists) in 29 games with the Marlies this season. During the 2016-17 season, the Nizhnekamsk, Russia native collected 13 points (3 goals, 10 assists) in 47 regular season games, while adding an assist in nine Calder Cup playoff games. Valiev made his NHL debut with Toronto during the 2015-16 season and appeared in 10 games for the club. He was originally selected by the Maple Leafs in the third round (68th overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft.
The Maple Leafs return from the All-Star Break when they host the New York Islanders at Air Canada Centre on January 31.
