Kapanen, 21, skated in three games with the Maple Leafs following his recall on Oct. 28 and recorded seven shots on goal. Prior to his recall to the Maple Leafs, he recorded three goals in six games with the Toronto Marlies. Kapanen appeared in eight regular season games with the Maple Leafs in 2016-17 and registered a goal. He also had a pair of goals in six Stanley Cup playoff games with the club. Kapanen was acquired by the Maple Leafs in a trade with the Pittsburgh Penguins on July 1, 2015.

Gauthier, 22, has collected two assists in eight games with the Marlies this season. He split his 2016-17 between the Maple Leafs and Marlies, recording two goals and one assist in 21 games with the Maple Leafs, while registering four goals and nine assists in 46 regular season games with the Marlies. He had four points (1 goal, 3 assists) in six Calder Cup playoff games for the Marlies. Gauthier was selected by the Maple Leafs in the first round (21st overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
