"Pat Quinn, general manager and head coach, announced Wednesday that the Toronto Maple Leafs have claimed Harold Druken off waivers from the Carolina Hurricanes.
Druken, 23, has collected three points (one goal, two assists) in 13 NHL games this season. He started the year with Vancouver and collected two points (one goal, one assist) in three games. Druken was acquired by Carolina along with Jan Hlavac from Vancouver in exchange for Darren Langdon and Marek Malik November 1. He appeared in 10 games for the Hurricanes and registered one assist with two penalty minutes.
The native of St. John's, Newfoundland has played 128 career NHL games collecting 57 points (27 goals, 30 assists) with 32 penalty minutes. His best season came during the 2000-2001 campaign when he registered 30 points (15 goals, 15 assists) in 55 games with Vancouver. Druken missed the majority of last season recovering from an ankle injury suffered December 2 versus Dallas.
