Maple Leafs acquire Ryan Bonni

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Tuesday they have acquired defenceman Ryan Bonni from Vancouver in exchange for future considerations.

Bonni, 23, spent the majority of the season with Columbia of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL). He collected 21 points (three goals, 18 assists) with 128 penalty minutes in 46 games.

Bonni appeared in four ECHL playoff games and registered four assists with ten penalty minutes. At 6-foot-4, 220 pounds, Bonni also played 11 games for the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League (AHL) and registered one assist with 33 minutes in penalties. He was held pointless in two AHL playoff games with two penalty minutes.

The native of Winnipeg, Manitoba has played three career NHL games for the Vancouver Canucks. Bonni was originally Vancouver's second choice, 34th overall in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.
