Before the Maple Leaf and Red Wings stars of today match up outdoors in the 2017 Scotiabank NHL Centennial Classic on New Year's Day, the legends of yesterday for both teams will face off in the 2017 Rogers NHL Centennial Classic Alumni Game, a game that celebrates the rich history of the two Original Six franchises.

The official rosters for the Maple Leaf and Red Wings Alumni teams were confirmed today, a day ahead of a Maple Leafs Alumni practice at the Mattamy Athletic Centre (at Maple Leafs Gardens).

The 2017 Rogers NHL Centennial Classic Alumni Game represents a rematch of the previous alumni showdown three years ago when the Maple Leaf and Red Wings legends faced off in two alumni games at Comerica Park in Detroit ahead of the 2014 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic. The Red Wings legends swept the alumni games with a 5-4 victory in the first game followed by a 6-5 shootout win in the second game.
"It's always a lot of fun for the alumni, and for the fans as well," said Maple Leaf alumni Wendel Clark. "We're all very proud to still represent these two storied franchises and it's great to be able to see a lot of our friends and relive some fun moments on the ice and off. We're all looking forward to Saturday and the chance to put on a show for the fans in Toronto."
As part of the 2017 Rogers NHL Centennial Classic Alumni Game, the Maple Leafs will pay tribute to the 1967 Stanley Cup winning team as part of the team's Centennial Season celebrations and to mark the 50th anniversary of the occasion.
Tickets to the 2017 Rogers NHL Centennial Classic Alumni Game start at $26.25 CAD and are available now on NHL.com/CentennialAlumniTickets. For more information on the Toronto Maple Leafs Centennial Celebration, visit mapleleafs.com/centennial.
